Below are our Board Members.
Dr. Mary Chinery-Hesse is a Retired International Civil Servant.
Her first post at the United Nations was that of Resident Coordinator of the UN System and Resident
Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP),
serving in New York, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, the Seychelles and Uganda.
She was then appointed Deputy Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO),
with the rank of Under Secretary-General of the United Nations.
She was Chief Advisor to the President of Ghana, and currently serves on the Five-Member African Union Panel of the Wise,
representing West Africa. She has received several prestigious decorations both nationally and internationally.
This includes the highest National Award, the Order of the Star of Ghana.
Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer
Henry Oroh is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer with over 18 years experience in the banking industry.
Prior to assuming this role, he served in the capacity of Executive Director for four years and had oversight responsibility for Marketing,
Corporate Banking and Business Development.
With a strong passion for the growth of the brand in Ghana,
Henry has been instrumental in the development and implementation of strategies as well as
innovative banking products and services which have been very much part of the Bank’s success story in the market.
Before joining Zenith Bank (Ghana) Limited, he was the Zonal Head at the Ikeja Region (Zenith Bank Plc) where he was responsible
for the business activities of the Oba Akran Branch in Nigeria. He also provided support in the supervision of over 20 branches in the zone.
His supervisory roles cut across Steel, Manufacturing, Food and Beverages, Pharmaceuticals, Oil and Gas, Public Sector, Consumer and Corporate Market segments.
Henry holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Benin, Benin City and an MBA from the Lagos State University.
He is a Chartered Accountant and an honorary member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Nigeria. Henry also holds an LLB from the University of London.
Before joining Zenith Bank Plc, he spent over seven (7) years at Citibank where he served in Operations,
Treasury and Marketing. He has won many accolades since joining the Group including;
Most Outstanding Leadership in the Bank (2007), Most Profitable Zone (2007),
Most Profitable Corporate Group (2008) as well as Highest Deposits Group (2008) in Lagos, Nigeria.
He has attended several courses locally and abroad, including Executive Management Courses at The Harvard Business School,
Columbia University, University of Chicago, HEC Paris, JP Morgan Chase UK, Bode Agusto & Co., Nigeria and Lagos Business School.
Henry comes into this role with great motivation and passion to lead the Bank into another phase of outstanding achievements.
Dr. Henry Benyah is the Chairman of MakYoung Limited, a Management and Financial Consulting Firm, specializing in Business Development, Transformation, Change Management and delivery of Management and Financial Consulting Services. This Firm has successfully provided professional services to many blue chip organizations including Ghana Telecom, Ashanti Goldfields Company Limited, University of Ghana, Zenith Bank Plc., Ministry of Energy Ghana, Ghana Free Zones Board and Antrak Group of Companies to mention but a few. Led by Henry, MakYoung has successfully incubated businesses in a number of key sectors including Zenith Bank Ghana (Banking), Main One (Telecom) and Software Plus Africa (ICT). These services included raising capital, providing financial advisory services, organizational setup, licensing and regulatory services, recruitment services as well as the provision of strategic direction and local market/cultural expertise.
Dr. Benyah was the Partner in charge of Management Solutions for Deloitte & Touche in West Africa. In his role, he had responsibility for Deloitte’s consulting services in West Africa with oversight for projects for clients such as AngloGold Ashanti Ltd, the African Development Bank, Texaco International, National Insurance Company of Zimbabwe, Malawian Traders Trust in Malawi, Malawi Savings Bank, CAL Bank in Ghana, Barclays Bank of Zambia and the Bata Shoe Company in Zimbabwe.
Dr. Benyah also worked as Vice President and General Manager for Software Plus Inc. (USA’s) Professional Services Division with responsibility for the provision of Professional Services to Software Plus’ over 2000-client base located in North America, the Caribbean and Africa.
Dr Benyah has served and continues to serve on a number of Boards of Directors. These include being Chairman of MakYoung, HH Group, The Gold Venture Capital Fund and The Benyah Foundation as well as member of the boards of Zenith Bank, SkyLyte Energy and BB Acquisitions. He formerly was the Chairman of Ghana Railways Company.
Dr. Benyah has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, USA, an MBA-Finance from Benedictine University in Illinois, USA, and a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, Maryland, USA.
Kwame Sarpong has over thirty (30) years of full time consulting experience, working mostly as an Economist/Financial Analyst.
Mr. Sarpong holds a BSc (Administration - Accounting) and Master of Business Administration from the University of Ghana (Legon)
and Columbia University (New York City) (Finance) in 1967 and 1970 respectively.
He was a Lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School (then School of Administration) between 1970/71 and 1976/77 academic years.
Before joining the Board of Zenith Bank, he was Chief Executive of Ghana Cocoa Board in July 2001,
a position he held for five (5) years.
He was awarded a National Award – Officer of the Order of the Volta on July 3, 2008
for his exemplary performance as Chief Executive of Ghana Cocoa Board. He currently serves on
several other Boards, including New World Investments Securities Limited,
Collection Africa (Ghana) Limited and Bamboo Bikes Limited.
Ebenezer Onyeagwu is an honourary senior member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of
Nigeria (CIBN) and a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
He has over 22 years banking experience and has served as an Executive Director of Zenith Bank Plc since April 2013.
Prior to joining Zenith Bank Plc in 2002, Ebenezer worked at Citizens International Bank as a Branch Manager.
His responsibilities included Head of Operations, Credit Administration & Marketing and Branch Management.
Ebenezer attended the Lagos Business School where he graduated with a Senior Management Programme Certificate.
He has attended courses on leadership, strategy, negotiation and decision making at the University of Pensylvania,
Columbia Business School and the Harvard Business School, all in the USA.
Olusola Oladipo, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Obafemi Awolowo University,
Ile-Ife and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from University of Lagos,
both in Nigeria. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA);
an Associate of Chartered Institute of Stock Brokers of Nigeria (ACIS) and an Associate of
Chartered Institute of Taxation (ACIT). He has also participated in several executive
education programmes in renowned business schools such as London Business School and
Columbia University, New York where he took courses in Leadership and Strategy
Mr. Oladipo, who has to his credit over twenty (20) years banking experience,
held several management positions in Zenith Bank Plc including pioneer Group Head
roles of significant desks such as Aviation, Conglomerates & Consumer Credit (CCC),
Agriculture and Corporate Banking. Prior to joining Zenith Bank Plc. in 1995,
he worked in the Treasury Department of Prime Merchant Bank Limited.
Gabriel Ita Asuquo Ukpeh
Gabriel Ukpeh is an internationally acclaimed consultant in business strategy, risk management, process re-engineering and financial services, who was, until recently, a Senior Partner and Risk Quality Leader for Africa at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria with over thirty five (35) years experience in Financial Audit and Reporting, as well as a member of the Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.
A graduate of accounting, Gabriel holds a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Warwick, Coventry, United Kingdom.
He obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc) Degree in Contemporary Accounting from the Leeds Metropolitan University, UK in 2009.
Gabriel worked with PwC, an International Business auditing and consulting firm for over thirty five (35) years, and as Partner for over 20 years led, directed, planned and managed the audit, accounting, and consulting assignments for numerous financial institutions, multinationals and local companies, including most major banks in Nigeria.
